Betty J. Van Horn

Betty J. Van Horn, age 99, of Tipp City, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit in Troy. She was born on November 22, 1923 in Dayton, OH to the late John R. and Fern L. (Iams) Gilleland.

Betty is survived by her children: Vickie (Ed) Latta and Steven (Debbie) Van Horn; grandchildren: Jessica (Justin) Lucous and Joshua (Diann) Keyes; four great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; siblings: Joan Sutherland, Ned (Sandra) Gilleland, and Barbara Manfredi; sisters-in-law: Irene Gilleland and Romaine Gilleland; and many extended family. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband: Russell F. Van Horn; 6 brothers; and 1 sister.

Betty was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Tipp City. She was very active in many civic and woman organizations throughout Troy and Tipp City, including Eastern Star. Betty was also a member of the Garden Club in Tipp City. She had a love for cooking, gardening, and shopping.

Private burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Tipp City at the convenience of the family.
