Barbara Jean (Schaeffer) Besecker

Barbara Jean (Schaeffer) Besecker, age 80, of Troy, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in Kettering Hospital of Troy Emergency Room.  She was born on October 3, 1943, in Troy to the late Kenneth and Mary (Berry) Schaeffer. 

Barbara is survived by her husband of 60 years: Ken Lee Besecker; one daughter: Tammy Hagemeyer of Troy; four brothers Bob (Kathy) Schaeffer of Casstown, Elmer (Debbie) Schaeffer of Troy, Dean (Shirley) Schaeffer of Troy and David (Kathy) Schaeffer of Toledo; one sister: Eva (Mike) Giddinge of Troy; two grandchildren: Kelby Staten and Chelsea (Marc) Halcomb; and great grandchildren: Colt, Asher and Shani.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Bernie and Billy; two stepbrothers: Bob White and Bill Phillipi; and one son-in-law: Joe Hagemeyer.

Barbara was a 1961 graduate of Troy High School.  She was also a 1984 graduate of Edison State College.  Barbara was a member of Moose Lodge 2695.  She worked at Troy Historical Center and was the former director of Troy Senior Citizens Center.  In her earlier years, she worked at Hobart and NCR in payroll.  She enjoyed babysitting for other children.  Barbara loved the outdoors and spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and all the rest of her family.

Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with Pastor Mike Yingst officiating.  Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Private burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
