Alice Yount Obituary

Alice Yount, age 92, of Troy passed away on Tuesday, April 13 at StoryPoint Senior Living. She is predeceased by her husband, Roger, her high school sweetheart who celebrated their 72nd anniversary.  After their three children, Becky Brunsman, Shelly Houser and Roger Yount II “left the nest”  Alice started her own boutique clothing shop  called Alice’s Clothes Line. She always said that she didn’t make a lot of money, but she sure made a lot of friends.

Alice welcomed with open arms the spouses of her children, MaryAnne Yount (Roger’s wife) , Kevin Houser (Shelly’s husband) and Alan Brunsman (Becky’s husband) . She enjoyed Little Kings beer before dinner with MaryAnne, puzzles with Kevin, and living with Alan and the backyard herd of deer for the first several months of the pandemic.

Alice and Roger lived a life filled with travel, golf, swimming, dancing and winter escapes to South Padre, Texas.  Alice enjoyed entertaining and was known for her theme parties with friends in Texas and with her golfing buddies and line dance group in Troy.  She made beautiful quilts for her grandchildren, loved to embroidery and always had a puzzle in progress on the dining room table.  She loved line dancing and would teach anyone who wanted to learn.  Particularly fulfilling for her was the “tour” of dancers from Troy Senior Citizen Center to visit various nursing homes, perform on Troy Main Street events and the Strawberry Festival.

When Alice and Roger moved to StoryPoint of Troy she served as an official good will ambassador welcoming new residents and entertaining current ones with her musical toys and bright effervescent personality.  She was always ready to dress up for a special occasion, spray her hair a corresponding color and enjoy the party.   The residents and caregivers at StoryPoint became an extension of her family.

Her children and  grandchildren Sam and  Anthony Yount, Isabel and Rory  Houser,  Cary Brunsman and Matt and Kelly Brunsman brought great-grand children Kylie and Caden,   and Zane and Keene to visit from all over the country, in the final days of her life. She kept close long distance contact with her great-grandchildren  Bear, Ramona and Loretta Yount.   Each of them shared special moments with this special woman.

A private service for the immediate family will celebrate her life.  In  lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County at P.O. Box 502, Troy, Ohio 45373.  Condolences may be expressed to the family as www.bairdfuneralhome.com.
