IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Vance
Strebig
June 24, 1933 – August 4, 2025
William Vance Strebig, age 92, of Troy, OH went home to be with the Lord on August 4, 2025. He was born on June 24, 1933 in Benton Harbor, MI to the late William Vance and Dorothy (Cleland) Strebig.
Bill's life is a testament to the Grace of God. In his early years, Bill's interests were Music –especially Marching Band- and his paper route. He delivered 100 local newspapers 6 days a week through his senior year and earned the Outstanding Carrier Award numerous times. After his father's death at the age of 16, other men stepped in to give him guidance and Boy Scouts became an important influence in his life. Bill's life changed completely when he trusted Christ as his Savior after high school. He attended Bob Jones University for one year, ran out of funds, returned home and began attending the local Junior College, where the Lord directed his life toward anesthesia. He received his RN training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, graduating in 1959. He then attended the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist degree. After graduation, he moved his family to Montana and began his medical career, serving for more than 30 years in four states. His passion for Missions led him to serve on several medical mission teams through the years, serving in Haiti, Peru, Ecuador, and Bangladesh. Bill had always loved to travel and learn new things, so when the opportunity arose to purchase an airplane, he not only bought the plane, but learned to fly it at the age of 50. After retirement, he continued to be involved in Missions and enjoyed running 5K races to support local charities.
Bill enjoyed Stamp Collecting, Hunting & Fishing, and Travel. He was a Lifetime Member of the American Philatelic Society, the Willow Brook Hunt Club, and the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church in Troy and also a member of the Brukner Nature Center and Friends of Troy Hayner Cultural Center. Through the years, he stated numerous times that he had been blessed beyond all expectations, thanks to Jesus Christ becoming his Savior.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years of marriage: Sally Ane Baldus Strebig and two of his sisters: Elizabeth (William) Stegar and MaryAnn (Otto) Seils. He is survived by his sister: Louise (Richard) Boelke; his children: Jeffery (Deborah) Strebig of Ft. Collins, CO, Rebecca (Randy) Bottoms of Clemmons, NC, Timothy (Paula) Strebig of Bellefontaine, OH, and Daniel (Jenny) Strebig of Kenesaw, GA; ten grandchildren: Kristen (Aaron) Eberly, Erik Strebig, Jonathan (Rachel) Bottoms, Kendra Strebig, Lee (Shaina) Bottoms, Katie & Andy Strebig, Raquel Strebig, Katherine (Jon) Colton, and Elizabeth Strebig; and eight great-grandchildren: Audrey, Caroline, and Silas Bottoms, Franz, Konrad, and Amos Eberly, and Hugh and Lundy Bottoms.
