William "Bill" Russell Gessner, age 82, of Troy passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at his home.  Bill was born on January 28, 1936 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late William John and Ruth Catherine (Wallmark)Gessner.

Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years: Nellie M. (Trader)Gessner; children: Carson (Vicki) Gessner, Yvonne (Mike) Moran, Lilah (Thomas) Ashworth, and Peggy Hurley, all of Troy; brother: Roger (Gail) Gessner of Covington; 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Bill was a 1954 graduate of Troy High School.   He served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany.  He was retired from Inland Division of General Motors.  Bill was a lifetime member of AmVets Post 88.  He enjoyed gardening, reading, sports and his cats.

Services will be held at 12:00PM on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Baird Funeral Home.  Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, OH with veterans honor guard services.  The family will receive friends from 10:00AM-12:00PM on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH.
