February 5, 1928 – June 13, 2001
William Joseph Buirley, 73 died Wednesday, June 13,2001 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Pauline C. Sotzing Buirley whom he married on August 27, 1949; two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Richard Layman and Nancy ''Sam'' and David Johnson; four grandchildren: Paula Bowman, Ted and Todd Layman and Laura Johnson; six great grandchidlren, Abby, Megan, Logan and Wyatt Bowman and Austyn and Alex Layman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Myra Colville Buirley and two brothers, Raymond and Cliff. He graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1946. Mr. Buirley served 15 months in the army receiving the WWII Victory medal; he was stationed at Otsu, Japan with the 35th Infantry Division. He worked at Stonecrest and Batdorf's turkey farms and the City of Troy Power plant/DP&L retiring from DP&L in 1983; cooked at Empire Restaurant after his retirement from DP&Lworked part time at Piqua Automotive for several years. Mr. Buirley was a Master Mason and a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, OH: a life member of the V.F.W. and a member of the Miami County Antique Power Association. He was a member of the Troy Church of the Brethren. Chaplain Michael Hodson will be the officant. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be amde to Hospice of Miami Coutny.
