"Bill" Christie

William R. Christie, age 93, of Troy, OH passed away on December 10, 2020 at the Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit in Troy. Bill was born on August 1, 1927 in Cleveland, OH to the late William K. and Theresa (Boulay) Christie.
Bill is survived by his wife of 18 years of marriage: Linda (Simmons) Scheib Christie; daughters: Patricia E. (Marcia) Gallas-Christie of Cincinnati and Carol (Scott) Love of Tipp City; sons: Fred W. (Sharon) Christie of Richfield and Charles (Dee Dee) Christie of Covington; stepson: Bob (Diana) Scheib of Bradford; stepdaughter: Julie Holmes of Columbus; sister: Chris Boulay of CO; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years of marriage: Joyce (Farley) Christie and his sisters: Jeanette Bohannan and June (Paul) Heisler and his brother: Jim Christie.
Bill served his country in the US Navy serving in Guam during WWII. He was employed as an engineering manager with Lorain Products and later with Hobart Corporation. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Troy and formerly with Covington Presbyterian Church. In Lorain, he served as Past President with the Kiwanis Club; Past member of the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army; Past President of Junior Achievement; Past Director of Girl Scouts and Young Man of the Year in 1964. Locally, Bill was member of Franklin Lodge #14F&AM, Antioch Shrine Temple and Past President of the Miami County Shrine Club; member and held perfect attendance with the Troy Kiwanis Club; Past Director with the Troy Senior Citizens; longtime volunteer at Stouder Memorial Hospital and Upper Valley Medical Center for over 20 years, Hospice of Miami County and the St. Patrick Soup Kitchen; member of the Troy Elks #833 for over 40 years; member of the Troy Fish and Game and the Tipp City American Legion Post 586. In 2014, Bill received the Individual Community Service Award from the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH with interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with military honors. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home with Masonic Services at 7:00 PM.
