Vonda R. Young, age 78, of Troy, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022, at her residence.  She was born on April 4, 1943, in Covington, KY, to the late Walter and Elsie (Gilreath) Strunk.

Vonda is survived by three children: Jill (Eric) Weaver of Troy, OH, Kurt (Heather) Shaffer of Troy, OH, and Mark Young of Norwich, VT; siblings: Neva Loy Etter of Lexington, KY, Eileen (Bob) Stitzel of Loudon, TN, and Larry (Carol) Strunk of Vonore, TN; grandchildren: Hannah and Chase Weaver of Troy, OH; Olivia, Madelyn and Haleigh (Trent Jones) Shaffer of Arcanum, OH, Molly and Griffin Young of  Norwich, VT, and Hayden (Briana McCarty) Young of Norwich, VT; great grandchildren: Hazel Young and Holden Shaffer Jones.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Jerry G. Young on February 18, 2020; and an infant sister: Virginia Ann.

Vonda had a Master's Degree in education.  She taught in the Sidney City Schools and Piqua City Schools and was a principal in the Piqua City School system.  She enjoyed golfing, boating, skiing, and spending time with her family.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Riverside Cemetery Chapel in Troy. OH, with the family receiving friends for one hour prior to the service.  Interment will take place at a later date in Rose Hill Burial Park in Springfield, OH.
