Virginia McCullough Allen Virginia McCullough Allen, age 98, of Troy, Ohio, died Monday, March 3, 2008 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. She was born on October 14, 1909. A direct descendant of the Telford family, one of Troy's pioneer families, Mrs. Allen was the daughter of Frank and Bess McKnight McCullough, the granddaughter of Charles and Nancy Telford McCullough. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Waterfill, her husband, Joseph H. Waterfill III and a granddaughter, Julia Waterfill. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Morrill Allen, and one daughter, Julia Meeker, in infancy. Mrs. Allen graduated from Troy High School in 1926 and Virginia College in Roanoke, Virginia. She was a Girl Scout leader and active in the Stouder Hospital Auxiliary where she introduced the "Pinky" puppet. She was a long time member of Current Events Club, the Troy Country Club, and the Morning Garden Club. Mrs. Allen was also a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Troy. She joined the church with her husband on March 14, 1920 and was its oldest living member. Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM Friday, March 7, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church, Troy, with Rev. Dr. Richard Culp officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Friends may call from 6-8PM Thursday at Baird Funeral Home, Troy. The family would especially like to thank Mrs. Allen's caregiver, Frances Dankworth, for her years of loyal service.
