Virgil W. Powell, age 79, of Troy passed away on August 16, 2024, at the Hospice Inpatient Unit, Troy. He was born on February 16, 1945 in Hamilton to the late Maynard F. and Jerlene (Allen) Powell.

Virgil is survived by a son: Jesse (Brucene) Powell of Sidney; daughter: Melissa A. Brown of New Carlisle; grandchildren: Travis (Chelsea) Ganger and Megan Powell; great grandchildren: Madison and Noah Ganger and Leo Kauffman; brother: Dennis A. (Janet) Powell of New White Land, IN; and sister: Patti (Steve) Emmel of Piqua, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his longtime partner Barb Kohler; sister: Katherine Adams; and brother: Maurice Powell.

He was a 1964 graduate of Tipp City High school, a US Army veteran during Vietnam and retired in 1999 from Inland GM after 34 years of service.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Baird Funeral Home with Rev. Ryan Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Gardens, Tipp City. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
