Violet Lavon ''Betty'' Mitchell, 73, of Troy died at her residence on Saturday, March 22, 2003. She was born 08/10/1929 to the late Harmon Taylor and Nellie Gladys ''Beasley'' White. She married Job ''Jim'' Mitchell Jr. on 10/5/1946 in Greenville, Ohio. She has 3 children, daughter & son in law; Marcia & Patrick Shanesy of Melbourne, Fla.; son and daughter in law, Michael & Tena Mitchell of Ludlow Falls, Ohio, and daughter, Christy Mitchell of Troy, Ohio. She has 4 grandchildren, Jim Shanesy, Lori Shanesy, Sean Mithcell & Megan Mitchell. She has 2 siblings that survive, Howard & Delores White of Camden, Ohio; and Dale & Pat Wilson of Laurel, Delaware. Two brothers preceed her in death, Lowell and Kenneth White. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of First Baptist Church in Troy, the Miami County Realtors Association; Ohio Association of Realtors; National Association of Realtors. Was a former member of Alturian Club; Mothers Study Club;former Girl Scout Leader & District Director for Miami County Campfire Girls. Coordinated the first Multiple Sclerosis fund drive in Miami County and received the Gold Key Award for her efforts. She was also beginning Fundraising leader for Dollars for Scholars in Troy, Ohio. She also served as All City PTA President. Mrs. Mitchell was the former Co-Owner of the Gables Resturant in Troy, Ohio. She was also a Real Estate Agent with Galbreath Realty & Concord Green Realty.
