Viola M. Reed Viola M. Reed, age 87, of Troy, Ohio passed away at 6:34AM Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Koester Pavilion, Troy, Ohio. She was born on September 4, 1923 in Troy to the late Omar and Zola Early Slifer. Her husband, Lawrence H. Reed, preceded her in death on August 22, 2004. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Sharmon and Max Craun and Melissa Arrington all of Piqua; one sister and a brother-in-law, Marjorie and Raymond Gray of Trotwood, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by one grandchild, Jonella Anderson; one great-grandchild, Malachi Isaiah; one sister, Anna Lee Lewis; and four brothers: Ken, Gene, Chester and James Slifer. She was a graduate of Troy High School. When she was young, she travelled with her father and played the accordion while he ministered. She was a member of Christian Chapel in Ginghamsburg, Ohio where she taught Sunday School and played the organ. She was active in the church throughout her adult life, giving herself to the Lord. Mrs. Reed was formerly employed with McCroy's in Troy. Services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, January 17, 2011 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with interment to follow in Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio. Rev. Jesse Tipton will officiate.
