Vernon C. Sharits, Sr., 76, died on Thursday, June 20, 2002 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney, Ohio. Mr. Sharits is survived by daughters, Marla Dickensheets and companion, John Kindell; Sheila Sharits and husband, Tony Cottrill; sons, Buddy Julie Sharits and Scotty Jenny Sharits; two brothers, Bob Sharits and Frank Sharits, Grandchildren, Sandy, Chris, Billy, Stanley, Erica, Zackary, Nathan, Rob and three great grandchildren, Kaleb, Timmy, Cassie. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Myrtle Mae Elliker Sharits, son, Bobby; four sisters, five brothers and a foster son, Rick Stoltz. Mr. Sharits was a lifetime member of Redman Lodge; lifetime member of VFW; Troy Fish and Game,US Army vet WWII. Mr. Sharits worked for the City of Troy in Gas and Electric Department until purchased by DP & L. He retired from DP & L in 1983. Visitation will be from 4-8 Monday, June 24; services at 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 25. There will be a Redman's service at 7:30PM on Monday, 6/24. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, PO Box 502, Troy, Ohio. After the service, family and friends are invited to Redmen's Picnic Grounds.
