Verl Leon Olwine, age 88, of Troy, Ohio died Saturday, August 5, 2006. Born of the late Oscar Olwine and Sadie Rhodeheffer Olwine, he married the former Helen Rhoades on April 24, 1937 who survives. Also surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Bill Joerg; sister, Patty Jean Grubb; grandchildren, Krista Paul Carte and Brian Joerg; great-grandchildren, Petry, Caroline, and Emma Carte and niece, Christy Sarsgard. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gerald Olwine. A member of the Troy Church of the Brethren for 68 years where he was a Deacon Emeritus. Verl was a volunteer and driver for the FISH organization of Troy for many years. His hobbies included bowling, golf, fishing, and gardening, and following retirement, traveling. He retired in 1979 after 41 years of service with the Troy Sunshade Company. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Troy Church of the Brethren, or Hospice of Heartland Home Health Care.
