Thomas E. Cress, Sr., 75, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at his son's residence in Troy, Ohio. Mr. Cress is survived by his wife, Glenna Miller Keeler Cress; children Eddie and Roma Cress of Troy, OH, son-in-law, Gary Hinkle of Peachtree, GA, Kathy and Joe Caldwell of Troy, OH, Karen and Kip Hainline of Ludlow Falls, OH, Jim and Jessica Cress of Denver, CO and John and Stephanie Cress of Paducah, KY. Surviving grandchildren, Fawnda Carson, Heather Cress, Thomas Cress III, Joshua Cress, Jessica Emerson, Jennifer Hurst, Millie Hainline, Luke Hainline, Carrie Hainline, Benjamin Caldwell, Amber Caldwell, Byron Caldwell, Jonathan Cress, Joseph Cress and Julieanna Cress; great grandchildren, Abby Tamplin, Seth Tamplin and Hayden Cress. Mr. Cress was preceded in death by his parents, Zora E. and Annabell Smith Cress; his first wife, Jo Ellen DeBord Cress, daughter Nancy and granddaughters, Emily and Elizabeth Hinkle; brother, Carlton Thompson and one sister, Margaret Thompson. Mr. Cress was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Ludlow Falls, Ohio; member of Lowell Thomas FOP Lodge, Greenville, Ohio and served in the Army Air Force. He retired in 1990 as Chief of Police of Bradford, Ohio. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Friday, Auguat 8, 2003 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio. There will be a service at Grace Baptist Church, Ludlow Falls, Ohio at 11:00AM on Saturday August 9, 2003 with Pastor John Young officiating. Burial will be in Greenville Creek Cemetery, Bradford, Ohio with a memorial honor guard at graveside. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church of Ludlow Falls or Hospice of Miami County.
