Theresa Marie Wichie, age 94, of Troy, Ohio; formerly of Akron, Ohio passed away peacefully the morning of January 1. Theresa was born on October 1, 1923 in Akron, Ohio to the late Peter and Anna (Szabo) Barat.

Theresa leaves behind her three children: Anna (Gary) Walker of Michigan, Joseph J. (Helen) Wichie Jr. of Troy; and Robert (Patti) Wichie of Brunswick, Ohio; one brother: Charles Barat of Florida; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Joseph James Wichie, Sr.; brothers Joseph and Julius and her sister, Irene.

During World War II, Theresa supported the troops as a "Rosie the Riveter" working at the rubber factories in Akron. After marrying, she stayed home to raise her family. Theresa and her husband loved to work in their expansive vegetable garden together. In her spare time Theresa enjoyed her bowling league, loved to sit down to work on crocheting or knitting projects, and she was an ace when it came to completing crossword puzzles.

Theresa attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy.  A Memorial Service will be held on May 27, 2018 at noon at 1719 Akron Penninsula Road, Akron, Ohio.
