Ted S. McKelvey MCKELVEY, Ted S., age 84 of Celina, OH, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010. Ted was born August 16, 1926 in Bisbee, ND to Hugh and Alma Weekly McKelvey, joining brothers Royce and Wayne and sister Marjorie Krokan. His family lived for 50 years in Dayton and Tipp City. Ted was a highly decorated Army veteran; proudly serving his country with the 25th Infantry Division in Japan, the Philippines and Korea. He was married to Nancye S. McKelvey Bartha for 57 years until her death in September, 2009. He owned T.S. McKelvey commercial refrigeration and residential heating and air conditioning company for 30 years, and continued working until the age of 79. Kind, humble and patient, Ted was a mentor and role model to many. Ted is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sister, his wife, Nancye, his son Michael, his sister-in-law Kaye McKelvey, his granddaughter Sarah Tomlinson, his great grandson Hayden Tomlinson, his great granddaughter Kieran Pratt. He is survived by his daughter Cathy, his grandsons Jason Pratt and Scott McKelvey Tara, his granddaughters Kelly Pratt-Nichols and Amanda Gabbert Darren, his great grandsons Kade Tomlinson, Isaiah Nichols, Logan and Aiden McKelvey, and his great granddaughters Riley and Logan Gabbert. The family thanks Drs Terry Roode and VK Chalasani who fought alongside him in his brave battle against Alzheimer's Disease, his friends and "family" at Celina Manor Nursing Home and the compassionate ICU nursing staff at Joint Township Medical Center in St. Mary's, OH. A graveside memorial service will be held to honor Ted on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 10:00AM at Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio. Baird Funeral Home, Troy is handling arrangements.
