Surdine Don Burton, 78, of Troy, Ohio died on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. He was born on September 1, 1927 in Greenup, Kentucky to the late Charles and Eliza Stevens Burton. He married Ruby D. Perry and she survives along with his children, Diana Ullery of Troy, OH; Marcia Jay Willis of Troy, OH; Jean Jim Smith of Cardington, OH; Gary Burton of Troy, OH; Jeffrey Burton of Troy, OH; Douglas Burton of Troy, OH; Steve Rita Burton of Marengo, OH; and twelve grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two children, Merry Burton in 2004 and Timothy L. Burton in 1995. He was a member of the VFW Post in Piqua, OH; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Troy, OH; Past Commander of Mt. Gilead Post #8054 and a US Army Veteran. He was former Chief of Police, Cardington, OH; formerly with the Sheriff's Department in Morrow County and founder of Burton's Used Cars. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2005 @ 2:00PM at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio with Veterans Honor Guard at the graveside. Friends may call on the family on Friday, November 18, 2005 from 5-8PM at Baird Funeral Home.
