Steven Edward Cosner, 73, of Troy, OH died Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Born August 26, 1949 in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late Lawrence Edward and Licia (de Comelli) Cosner.

Steve was a graduate of Brookhaven High School Class of 1967. He retired from Walmart in 2020 and previously worked for several decades in insurance and financial services including Ohio Casualty, Buckeye Insurance, and Nationwide Insurance. He served in the United States Army (101st Airborne Division, 18th Military Police Brigade) during the Vietnam War. Steve thought it was always important to honor our veterans while always working for peace. After his tour of duty, he returned home to complete a bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cheryl Anne (Swisher) Cosner; sons, Joshua Louis Cosner (wife Michelle Cosner) and Jonathan Russell Cosner (wife Helen Cosner); sisters, Valentina M. Stein (husband Robert); Viviana L. Yost (husband Roger); stepmother, Ethel Cosner; aunt, Lois Homa (husband George Homa); granddaughter, Bella Cosner; two grandsons, Josiah and Enzo Cosner.

A funeral service for family and close friends will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider charitable donations to the American Cancer Society or American Red Cross.
