Stephen Douglass Hamilton, 59, of Troy, Ohio passed out of the life on Monday, January 12, 2004 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on February 2, 1944 to the late Alexander D. ''Tidy'' and Helen Brosius Hamilton in Troy, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Kay Hamilton of Troy, Ohio, and 3 children, Jeffrey Hamilton and Spencer Hamilton, both of Troy, Ohio; and a daughter and Son-in-law: Amy and Mike Womick of Hamilton, Ohio. Also surviving are a brother, Alex Hamilton of Troy, and sister, Jean Rowe of Bellaire, Michigan. Also 3 grandchildren survive, Jessica; Joseph and Mitchell Womick. He was the First Chairman of the Troy Strawberry Festival in 1977 and served as the Festival's Parade Grand Marshal in 1980; was a member of Troy City Council from 1992-1995; Troy Jaycees Outstanding Young Man of the Year Award recipient in 1978; President of the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce in 1982 and was the Chamber's first recipient of the Sam Walton Award for Outstanding Community Service in 1998. Was involved with his children's activities and was a Veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietman War. He attended Troy High School; 1963 graduate of Mercersbury Academy, Mercersburg, PA; Graduated from Miami University with a B.S. in Business and Minor in Economics. He was the Vice President and Agent for Trojan Insurance Agency of Troy from 1970-1984 and currently was self-employed as an insurance educator with the Hamilton School of Insurance. Friends may call at Baird Funeral Home on Saturday, January 24, 2004 from 1:00-4:00PM and then a memorial Service following with interment at Riverside Cemetery,Troy, Ohio.
