Spero Leo Mengos, age 93, of Troy, OH passed away on March 26, 2025 at the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.  He was born September 7, 1931 in Piqua to the late Leo Mengos and Margaret (Clawson) Rowlett.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years of marriage: Janet K. (Gaier) Mengos; three children: Tony Mengos and Nick Mengos (Therese) both of Troy and Mimi (Mengos) Torello (Chris) of Lebanon; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Sharon Mengos and stepfather: Bill Rowlett.

Spero was a graduate of The Ohio State University and served his country in the US Marine Corp for two years active duty.  He was a member of the AmVets Post # 88 in Troy and former member of the Elks Lodge of Troy and the American Legion in New Carlisle and Piqua.  Along with his wife, he was the former owner of the Staunton Country Store before turning the business over to their son, Tony.  He was also the former owner of Spero Mengos Insurance Company in Troy and Town Square Transmission in Piqua.  He was previously employed with the US Food and Drug Administration in Cincinnati.

A Graveside Service will be held with military honors on April 5, 2025 at 1:00 PM in Casstown Cemetery.
