Sammie Lynn Martin, age 85, of Tipp City, OH passed away on July 11, 2024 at the Troy Rehabilitation Center.  She was born on May 20, 1939 in Nashville, TN, to the late Robert and Lola (Boyd) Pointer.

She is survived by her sons: Mark Edward Martin and Alan Stewart Martin; grandchildren: Amanda Martin and Daniel Martin; and great grandchild: Madlyn Martin.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years: Edward Lewis Martin; daughter-in-law: Pamela Martin; brother: Bob Pointer; and sister: Mary Hines.

Sammie was a graduate of Troy High School.  She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where she was a part of the Missionary Guild and taught Sunday school.  She served as a registered nurse with Stouder Memorial Hospital and Upper Valley Medical Center.  Sammie also volunteered at Brukner Nature Center for many years.  She was a member of Garden Club and Book Club.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Baird Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Hines officiating.  Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Friday at Baird Funeral Home.
