Ruth Morrett Martin

Covington - Ruth Martin, 90, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023, at Stillwater Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.  She was born March 30, 1933, in Christiansburg, Ohio, to the late Theodore and Isabel (Yantis) Morrett.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Becky Evans of Rosewood, Chuck Martin of Troy, Kathie and Dan Leistner of Covington, and Robin and Steve Epperson of Conover; seven grandchildren, Chris (Wendy) Batdorf, Jared (Amy) Evans, Mark (Nichole) Leistner, Michelle (Callen) Vanderhoff, Martin (Kristen) Leistner, Roy Epperson, and Ted Epperson; and ten great-grandchildren, Vella and Vienna Batdorf, Raegan Evans; Daniel, Owen and Samuel Leistner, Dawson, Deacon, and Duncan Vanderhoff and Oliver Leistner.  She is also survived by sister-in-law, Jeanie Morrett; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Roy Martin: one grandson, Matthew Leistner; one great-granddaughter, Noelle Leistner; sons-in-law, Bob Evans and Van Batdorf; brother, Wayne Morrett.

She was a 1951 graduate of Troy High School.

Ruth was formerly employed as a bus driver for Newton Schools. She was also a longtime Pleasant Hill area farmer.  She attended Stillwater Community Church in Covington.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2023 at the Baird Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
