RUTH M BUIRLEY, age 88, of Troy, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Koester Pavilion in Troy.  She was born in Columbus, OH on May 27, 1928 to the late Romie M. and Mary Emma (Stoner) Thaxton.  Ruth married Robert C. "Bob" Buirley on June 11, 1949 and he preceded her in death on March 11,  2016.

Ruth is survived by one son: John Paul Buirley of Troy; and two daughters: Becky Marie (Douglas) Asbury of Punta Gorda, FL and Connie Sue (Johnnie) Smith of Lockington, OH.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant brother; one infant sister; two brothers: Russell Thaxton and Robert Thaxton; and one sister: Virginia Mason.

Ruth was a member of Casstown United Methodist Church in Casstown, where she was a former volunteer church secretary and a member of the United Methodist Women.  She was also a member of Elizabeth Township Historical Society and Troy Historical Society.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with Rev. David Ramming officiating.  Burial will follow in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown.  Friends may call from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
