Obituary

Rev. Roy C. McGuffey Rev. Roy C. McGuffey, age 87, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 4:15PM on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at his residence. He was born on January 21, 1922 in Stanford, Kentucky to the late Walter F. and Laura Privitt McGuffey. His wife of over 65 years, Helen Croucher McGuffey, survives. Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Mary Angela and Kenny Arnold of Goodyear, Arizona; two sons and daughters-in-law: Gary and Cynthia McGuffey of Raleigh, North Carolina and Jeffrey Paul and Wanda McGuffey of Lexington, Kentucky; two brothers: Joseph McGuffey of Panama City, Florida and Arthur McGuffey of Fairborn, Ohio; six grandchildren: Melody Gromko of Arizona, Kathy Chase of California, Kenneth Arnold of Arizona, Brian McGuffey of Georgia, Bethany Ore of Kentucky and Jared McGuffey of Kentucky; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Rev. McGuffey was preceded in death by brothers: Manford, Robert, Albert and Claude McGuffey; sisters: Eva Brackett, Beulah Robbins and Beatrice Young; and one grandson, Daniel. He was a graduate of Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. He was a US Navy WWII Veteran. Rev. McGuffey pastored many different churches during his 40 years of ministry, including: Sugar Run Baptist Church, Morrow, Ohio, Northridge Baptist Church, Dayton Area, First Baptist Church of Buckeye, Arizona, Cane Run Baptist Church of Lexington, Kentucky and Rean Meadows Baptist Church of Kettering, Ohio before retiring in 1990. He then served as interim pastor at Calvary Baptist Church, Troy, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, January 22, 2010 at First Baptist Church, Troy, with Pastor M. Earl McGuffey and Pastor Doug Magin officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mason, Ohio with Veterans Services at the graveside. Friends may call from 6-8PM on Thursday at Baird Funeral Home, Troy. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, P.O.
