ROY GIBSON, age 70, of Troy, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.  He was born in Jellico, TN on October 18, 1947 to the late Harvey and Hallie (Hurst) Gibson.

Roy is survived by his wife of almost 49 years: Earlrita (Satterfield) Gibson; one daughter: Teresa (Rick) Foland of Troy; one son: Jason Gibson of Troy; one sister: Jane (Gary) Kiser of Troy; two brothers: Lonnie Gibson of Troy and Charles (Ruth) Gibson of New Carlisle; mother-in-law: Margaret Satterfield; two granddaughters: Breanna (Scott) Westlake and Marissa Foland; one great grandson: Gavin Westlake; sisters-in-law: Paula Peppler and Belinda (Dan) Bashore; and brother-in-law: Graydon (Angie) Satterfield.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law: Ruth and Wayne Baldwin; sister-in-law: Betty Gibson; and father-in-law: Earl Satterfield.

Roy proudly served his country as a member of the US Army, serving in Vietnam as an Artillery Gunner.  He attended Ludlow Falls Grace Baptist Church and was a member of Troy American Legion Post #43.  His hobbies included woodworking, fishing and he was a bee keeper.  He retired from IVEX Corp. after 33 years of service.  Roy was later employed by Miami County Health Department.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with Pastor Dale Scott officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy with full military honors.  Friends may call from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
