Obituary

Ross J. Wilkerson, 75, of Troy, Ohio passed away at 1:35AM on Sunday, December 1, 2024 of natural causes. Ross was born on November 13th 1949 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Curtis and Josephine (Morbach) Wilkerson. His family moved to Lexington, Kentucky and then to Dayton, Ohio when he was a child. Ross enlisted into the Army on October 24th 1968 during the Vietnam era. He trained in Baltimore, Maryland and then served all over Europe in the Army Intelligence Department.  He was enlisted to travel and work from Germany all the way to Africa during his Army career. He was ranked as a Sergeant. His career with the Army lasted three years.

Once he returned home he spent two years at Sinclair College and two years at the University of Dayton earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.  He worked in Ohio as a Miami County Deputy Sheriff for two years before moving to Washington DC to work in their police department. He continued at this position for 20 years before retiring and moving back to Ohio.

Ross lived a fast paced life of travel in his working years and had many fond memories during his life and was happy to be able to live a quiet life in Ohio. He was an avid reader, historian, and interested in political events.

Ross is survived by his brother Gary (Marge) Wilkerson and numerous friends from Miami and Shelby County.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00AM, December 21, 2024 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy.  Family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00AM to 10:00AM.
