He is survived by his wife of 56 years of marriage: Kathie L. (Hitchcock) Erwin; his children: Matthew E. (Julie Sillman) Erwin of Troy, Lisa (Dave) Smiley of Ft. Myers, FL and Shelley Erwin of Troy; grandchildren: Joshua (Kirsten) Smiley of Hermitage, TN, Hannah (Mitch) Woodruff of Marysville, Zachariah Erwin and Braedon Erwin both of Troy; great grandchildren: Leah Smiley and Beau Smiley of Hermitage, TN and Waylon Woodruff of Marysville; twin brother: Donald J. He was preceded in death by his brother; Robert Erwin, sister; Marvalene Kizer and daughter-in-law: Kimberly Erwin. Ron was a 1961 graduate of Graham High School. He had a lifelong hobby of cars; selling Chryslers for over 61 years and just recently celebrated 50 years of owning and operating Erwin Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram Dealership located in Troy. Ron could always try to bring a deal to the table- ANYWHERE- even his hospital visits. A special recognition goes to all of the current and past employees of the Erwin dealership as Ron considered them all as family. From family milestones and celebrations, being a lake time boat captain, daily ice cream connoisseur, watching drag racing or WWE (long live Hulk Hogan), venturing to a car show or all the way to Florida for fun in the sun with long time FL friends: Ron was in love with life. He was a member of the Troy First United Methodist Church holding various positions. He was Past President of the Troy Kiwanis Club and enjoyed reading to the Head Start students throughout the schoolyear. He was proud to be instrumental in the growth of the Miami Valley Veterans' Museum and received the Community Champion award in 2024. Growing up on a farm, he has been a long-time supporter of the Miami County 4-H clubs; even receiving an award acknowledging his years of patronage. He was Past President of the Urbana Jaycees, board member of the Miami County YMCA and past member of the Troy Jaycees. Ron was a recipient of the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Citizen Award in 2018. He also received the Arbor Day award in 2023 from the city of Troy. Ron's philanthropic efforts allowed many Troy and Miami county organizations to thrive. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM - 5:00PM on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, August 4, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church, Troy. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
