The Rev. Ronald L. Barber, age 76, of Troy, Ohio passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Springmeade Health Center, Tipp City, OH. He was born on August 14, 1937 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Fred Barber and Leah (Pingry) Barber. Ron was married to Shirley Y. (Canfield) Barber for 56 years and she preceded him in death on August 26, 2012. Ron is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Bettie and David Rountree of Middletown, Ohio; Ronda and Gary Morgan of Niles, Ohio and Sherry and David Frye of Troy, Ohio; six grandchildren, Joshua (Kristen) Morgan, Chelsie (B.J.) Geasa, Veronica (Adam) Higginbotham, Zachary Frye, Cameron (Lindsey) Frye and Brian Rountree; and six great-grandchildren, Kaylee Morgan, Titus Morgan, Van William Geasa, Brynn Geasa, Declan Higginbotham and Aurora Rountree. In addition to his parents and his wife, Ron was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip Barber and the Rev. Marion "Skip" Barber. Ron attended the Olivet Nazarene College and the Southern Nazarene University and was a graduate of Board of Credentials for Ordination. Ron was a Church of the Nazarene pastor for over 50 years including the Troy Church of the Nazarene for the past 26 years. He was active in several Church of the Nazarene Boards, as well as many local community organizations. Ron was a former bus driver with the Troy City Schools. He was an avid Gold Wing rider and certified private pilot. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Troy Church of the Nazarene, 1200 Barnhart Road, Troy, Ohio with the Dr. Gary L. Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-6:00PM on Sunday at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy.
