ROBERTA SUE "BOBBI SUE" GEARHARDT

Roberta Sue "Bobbi Sue" Gearhardt, age 63, of Casstown, OH passed away on Saturday, August 08, 2015 at the Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.

Bobbi was born on February 20, 1952 in Troy, OH to Joan Charlotte (Minnich) Counts of Troy and the late Robert Marvin Counts.  She was married to her husband of 43 years, Paul W. Gearhardt.

In addition to her mother and her husband, Bobbi is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Cynthia and Mark Rose of St. Paris, OH and son and daughter-in-law: Joshua and Jennie Gearhardt of Piqua, OH; 4 grandchildren: Cael and Allison Rose of St. Paris and Ashlyn and Haley Gearhardt of Piqua; two sisters: Linda Leigh (David) Baehr of Riverside, CA and Carol Ann Counts (partner, Mr. Lynn Davis) of Maple Leaf, Ontario, Canada; one brother: Douglas Allen (Ann Marie) Counts of North Olmsted, OH; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: David and Carol Pinkerton of Troy; one sister-in-law: Jill Gearhardt of Troy; two aunts: Jeannie Morrett and Nancy (Marvin) Anderson; and numerous cousin, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  In addition to her father, Bobbi Sue was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law: William and Dolly Gearhardt; one brother-in-law: Tom Gearhardt; uncles and aunt: George "Buddy" and Nancy Counts, C. Ray Minnich, Dale Minnich, and Wayne "Mogey" Morrett; and her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Bobbi was a 1970 graduate of Troy High School.  She was also a graduate of Community Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, held a certification as an EMT A from Montgomery County JVS, a certification of EMS Instructor from Upper Valley JVS in Piqua, and a Certificate of Paramedic Studies from Clark State Community College in Springfield.  Bobbi achieved an Associate of Science Degree from Edison State Community College in Piqua and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of Mt. St. Joseph in Cincinnati.  She was a Registered Nurse with a BS in nursing and experience in health care service and management as an educator, consultant, training officer, supervisory nurse, Emergency Medical Services Coordinator and Director of Training systems.  Bobbi's professional experience included: Charge Nurse for the CCU at Stouder Memorial Hospital in Troy; Office Nurse at Troy Family Practice and the office of Kenneth Smith, MD in Troy, staff nurse at Johnson's Nursing Home in Troy and ED Staff Nurse, EMS Coordinator and EMS Education Coordinator at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.  She was also a Volunteer Paramedic, Training Officer and Vice President with Fletcher-Brown Twp in Fletcher; a Volunteer Paramedic with Christiansburg Fire Company; Regional Sales Manager for Southeastern Emergency Equipment; Staff Nurse at Olsten Staffing Agency in Dayton; ED Staff Nurse at Wayne Hospital in Greenville; ED Staff Nurse at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney; EMS Coordinator at Kettering Medical Center in Kettering; Supervisory Nurse and Training Committee member with the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) OH, from which she was deployed to Superstorm Sandy 2012, Republican National Convention 2008, Hurricane Ike 2008, Hurricane Katrina 2005, Hurricane Floyd 1999 and the Summer Olympics 1996.  Bobbi was also a part of the Department of Emergency Medicine-National Center for Medical Readiness (EMS) at Wright State University; a consultant/educator for Emergency Medical Services (EMS); Clinical Instructor at Hondros College and Director of Training Systems at JXT Applications, Inc.  Bobbi was a member of Ohio Association of Emergency Medical service, where she held the offices of President, Second Vice President and served various committee chairmanships.  She served as Governor of Ohio appointee to State Board of Emergency Medical Services from 1992-1999.  Bobbi was a member of the Cove Spring Church in Troy and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 256.   Bobbi's first priority in life was taking care of her family.  She dearly loved all her family, especially her children and grandchildren.  Her second priority was taking care of anyone who needed care.  She dedicated her life to nursing and training and educating emergency personnel.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the Baird Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Lauren Allen and Pastor Greg Morrow officiating.  Interment will follow in the Casstown Cemetery in Casstown.  The family will receive friends from 2-8 PM on Wednesday at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH.
