Robert R. Weatherhead, 88, of Troy, Ohio died on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at Koester Pavilion, Troy, Ohio after an extended illness. He was born of May 6, 1918 in Troy, Ohio to the late Frank & Lettie Rusk Weatherhead. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Betty Kueterman Weatherhead; daughter & son-in-law; Vickie L. & Mike Grunkemeyer of Piqua, OH; two grandchildren, Heather Pfenning of Piqua, OH; Kelly & Cher Grunkemeyer; three great-grandchildren; niece, Deanna & David Brown of Dayton, OH; and nephew, Carroll Berchtold, of San Antonio, TX. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Martin Weatherhead in 1975; his parents; two sisters, Helen Shade and Lucille Berchtold. He was a lifetime member of Troy Elks Lodge #833; Veteran of the US Navy serving during WW II in the South Pacific; Past member of the Dayton Engineers Club; Organizer for 4H Club; Leader of Miami County Organizers; and Second Miami County 4H Club Ruff Riders, there were six member when he served. He was a graduate of Staunton High School and attended GM Technical Engineering. He retired from GM in Vandalia and AO Smith in Tipp City. Funeral services will be at 10:00AM, Monday, October 16, 2006 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio with Pastor Ken Van Hoose officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio. There will be a special service of the Elks of Sorrow and Military Honors at the cemetery. Friends may call on the family, Sunday, October 15, 2006 from 6-8PM at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy. Contributions may be made to Donors Favorite Charity.
