Robert Michael "Mike" Chaney, age 78, of Troy, OH passed away on January 23, 2025, at Kettering Health Troy.  He was born on August 19, 1946, in Troy, OH to Robert E. and Edna Irene (Hosier) Chaney.  He married Mary Ann (Ruffin) Chaney on August 30, 1969.

Mike is survived by his wife of 55 years: Mary Ann; three children: Laura (husband, Brett Bogan) Chaney; Suzanne Chaney and Jonathan (Fiancé' Betty Lovell) Chaney; sister: Sharon (husband, Jack) Crowley and grandchild Adrian Bogan.

Mike was a 1964 graduate of Troy High School.  He was a US Navy veteran serving on the USS America (CV-66) and USS Coral Sea (CV-43) as an A-7 aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam War.  After his Navy service, Mike was employed by General Telephone & Electronics Corporation, which later became Verizon, working as a Switchman for 30 years.

Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, restoring vintage British motorcycles, HAM radio, rebuilding computers, antique radios, model trains, swap meets & flea markets, vacationing on the Outer Banks, bird watching, mowing his yard, and his dogs. He was a science guy who loved to tinker.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Baird Funeral Home, Troy OH. A prayer service will immediately follow the visitation at 3:00 PM. Private interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.

In 2017, Mike, along with other Veterans, had the opportunity to take Honor Flight to Washington DC to see the national memorials. His daughter Suzanne accompanied him as a Guardian.
