Robert F. Gurklies, 79, of Pleasant Hill, Ohio died on Friday, July 29, 2005 at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. He was born on December 8, 1925 in Covington, Ohio to the late George and Alice Mae Nutt Gurklies. He married Nancy Shanck Gurklies, and she preceded him in death on May 5, 2005. He is survived by his four children, daughter, Alice Gurklies of Piqua, OH; sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Sandra Gurklies of Troy, OH; Kerry and Kathy Gurklies of Leesburg, IN; and Tim Gurklies of Englewood, OH; two step-children, Keith & Laurie Bream of Carlisle, PA; Rebecca & Robert Sellman of Troy, OH also three grandchildren, Kristopher Gurklies of Leesburg, IN; Kevin Gurklies of Prescott Valley, AZ; Kristen Markley of Leesburg, IN and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers and one sister. He graduated from Newton High School in 1947. He was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church, Covington, Ohio and was a WWII US Army Veteran. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 33 years of service. He also retired from Troy City Schools. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 @ 10:00am at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio with Pastor Stephen Nierman officiating. Friends may call on the family on Monday, August 1, 2005 from 5-8PM at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio. Contributions may be made to the Covington Care Center Activity Fund or the Alzheimer's Association.
