Robert G. Newman, age 84, of Troy, Ohio died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at 11:20 am at Grandview Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. He was born November 11, 1924 in Fairhope, Alabama to the late Raymond Newman and Loa McBride Newman. He was married to his wife of 60 years, Ruth Eileen King Newman who survives. He is also survived by his children, Linda Jerry Pearson of Ft. Loramie, Ohio; Mike Karen Newman of Troy; Elizabeth Revolt of Fairhope, Alabama; and Don Chris Newman of Sidney, Ohio; brothers and sisters, Edgar Newman of Sarasota, Florida; Doris Dornquast of Bayminnette, Alabama; and Betty Shellabarger of Dayton, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Annie, Dan, Gary, Mike, Sarah, Greg, Tammy, Craig, and Nathan; thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and special cousin, Jane Staver of West Milton, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Donald, Keith, and Raymond. He was a WWII US Army Veteran; member of Moose Lodge, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and Troy Fish and Game Club where he was the oldest living member. Robert was a former farmer, he was formerly with King's Sales and Service which he owned along with his father-in-law, and was retired from Miami County Garage. No public service will be held. The family will receive friends at the Baird Funeral Home from 2-4:00PM Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kid's Fishing Derby in care of The Troy Fish and Game.
