Obituary

Richard E. ''Red'' Widener, 70, of Troy, Ohio passed out of this life on Monday, March 29, 2004 at the Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born August 12, 1933 in Clark County to the late Herbert and Esther Shoemaker Widener. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Roberta J. ''Bertie'' Helman Widener, and his five children, Daughters& Sons-in-law; Anita & Ron Layman of Alvordton, Ohio; Linda & Don Collins of Niceville, Florida; Julie & Doug Mader of Troy, Ohio; Sons & Daughters-in-law: Ronald E. & Josee' Widener of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Cory & Kelly Widener of Macomb Twp., Michigan. He is survived by his sisters; Kathryn Steven Bedwell of Las Vegas, Nevada and Patricia Gilliland of New Carlisle, Ohio and one brother, Steven Widener. He has twelve grandchildren; Allison, Christina; Melissa; Stephanie; Sean; Brianna; Tori; Danny; Joey; Montana; Caitlyn and Jordan. He also had three great grandchildren; Samantha; Zach and Caleb. Along with his parents preceding him in death, is a brother, Robert. He is also survived by his constant companion, Sadie, his boxer dog. He was a member of the North American Fishing Society; an avid fisherman; US Army Veteran; American Legion Post #43 in Troy. He also enjoyed growing roses as a hobby. He was a member of the McKendree United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Elizabeth Township School. He retired in 1997 from PMI and was a member of the local UAW. This is a Private Service.
