Richard L. Kresse, age 81, of Troy, OH, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, OH.  He was born in Springfield, IL, on September 3, 1940, to the late Eugene and Lavetta (Estrop) Kresse.

Richard is survived by his wife of 55 years: Suzanne (Henne) Kresse; three children: Ann Mertens of Troy, OH, Laura (Wife, Rachael Bartley) Rioux of Seattle, WA, and Matthew (Fiancé, Kristen Henley) Kresse of Greenwood, IN; one brother: Charles Kresse of Dawson, IL; and five grandchildren: Jennifer Ames of Jacksonville, FL, Megan Mertens of Troy, OH, Justice Rioux of Madrid, Spain, Dakotah Rioux of Seattle, WA and Rosalea Kresse of Greenwood, IN.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Delmar Kresse.

Richard grew up on his family farm in Central Illinois. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. After college, he moved to Troy and worked on the Eldean Grain Elevator where he met his wife after being invited for dinner by his secretary, Suzanne's mother (Patricia Henne).  Later, he became a commodities trader in Chicago, Illinois, then retired to Troy in 2005. Richard enjoyed giving financial advice and talking about business/farming with others.  He loved football, basketball, cookies and was a loving family man.  Richard was always mindful and thoughtful.  He was a member of Elks Lodge #833 in Troy, OH.
