Richard Ernest Gumerlock Richard Ernest Gumerlock, age 81, of Fletcher, Ohio, died Saturday, October 25, 2008 at his residence. He was born September 28, 1927 in Alpha, New Jersey, to the late Stanley and Helen Sherry Gumerlock. His wife of 54 years, Nancy Jean Hughes Gumerlock preceded him in death on October 7, 2008. He is also survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law: Nancy and John Burkley of New York, Carol Lewis of Piqua, Linda Morris of New York and Susan and Gary Truax of Florida; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Richard and Rena Gumerlock of Troy and Gary Gumerlock of Park City, Utah; and eight grandchildren: Julia Burkley, Randi Lewis, Samantha and Blake Morris, Brooke and Alex Simpson and Kenny and Chelsea Welbaum. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Mr. Gumerlock received his BA and masters degrees. He was an English teacher at Miami East High School, retiring in 1994. He resided in Fletcher, Ohio for 40 years and was a US Navy WWII Veteran, serving in active duty for two years. He loved sports and history. He was a good athlete and played football in college.
