Richard E. ''Whitey'' McMullen, 81, died at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio on Tuesday, September 30, 2003. Mr. McMullen is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris Wagner McMullen; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Denise McMullen of Adrian, Michigan; Fred and Debra McMullen of Troy, Ohio; daughter, Clara Coleman of Fallbrook, California;six grandchildren, A.J. McMullen, Cara McMullen, Alicia McMullen, Casey and Carey McMullen and Christopher Coleman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estella Selby and Elmer McMullen and two brothers, Robert and Ronald McMullen. Mr. McMullen was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran; member of VFW; member of Miami County Fast-Pitch Hall of Fame; and was active in Troy School system. He was a 1941 graduate of Troy High School. He was formerly employed at Troy Sunshade; retired from the Troy Post Office after 30 years of service. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 PM Saturday, October 4, 2003 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio with a service at 2:00PM with Rev. Al Bastin officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
