RICHARD H. DAVIS
RICHARD H. DAVIS, age 83, of Troy passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Dayton VA Hospice in Dayton. He was born in Troy, OH on October 3, 1931 to the late Harley A. and Ruth C. (Anderson) Davis.
Richard is survived by one son: Eric R. Davis of Troy; one daughter: Kendra L. Davis of Troy; one granddaughter; Alliyah Lee of Troy; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Virginia Lee and Dave Darnell of Beavercreek and Sue Ann and Bob Purpura of Eugene, OR; and also survived by two nieces and five nephews.
Richard was a member of First United Church of Christ in Troy. He was a 1949 graduate of Troy High School. Richard proudly served his country as a member of the US Marine Corp during the Korean War. He served with the 3 rd Plt. , B-1AMTRAC. Richard's military locations and stations included Parris Island, Camp Pendleton, Signal Co., San Diego, Korea for one year and Camp Lejeune for one year. He participated in the assault and seizure of Inchon, capture and securing of Seoul, Wonson-Hungnam Chosin Campaign and operations against enemy forces in South and Central Korea. Richard was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation with one star, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with six stars, United Nations Ribbon and Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He was a life member of 1 st Marine Division Association, life member of 2 nd Marine Division Association, Life and Charter member of Western Ohio Chapter of Korean War Veterans, Life Member of National Korean War Veteran Association and Charter Member of Marine Corp League Western Ohio Detachment. Richard was also a member of Chosin Few. He retired from Apex Die Casting after 34 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and bowler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park in Covington with full military honors at the graveside. Friends may call from 9-11 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
