Obituary

Reva J. Hawn, age 102, of Troy, OH passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Brookdale/Clare Bridge.  She was born January 20, 1915, in Miami County, OH, to Samuel and Tressie (Curtis) Hartman.  She married Eldridge G. Hawn, who preceded her in death, in 1990.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; Sons, Carl Eugene Hawn and Dale Emerson Hawn; Brother, Warren Hartman; Sister, Evora Igleburger; Grandson, Rodney G. Hawn; and Nephew, Gabe Hartman.  Mrs. Hawn is survived by Daughter, Beverly Hawn Hangen of Troy; Granddaughter, Jill Hawn of Riverside; Great Granddaughters, Ashley (Frank) Hill of Xenia and Jessica (Ryan) DeWeese of Sidney; Great Great Granddaughters, Zaiya Hill of Xenia, Michelle Miller of Sidney; Great Great Grandson, Derek Hill of Xenia; Nephews, Gary (Gloria) Tanner of Pinehurst, NC, Herbert (Ruth) Hartman of Troy; Nieces, Lois (Jim) Dinneen of Ponce Inlet, FL, Debbie Igleburge, of Sacramento, CA and Patty Sirch of Troy.

Mother and Daddy retired to Florida, where they spent 18 happy years.  At his passing, Reva returned to Troy, where she still maintained many friends.  She managed her own life and home, very efficiently, until moving to assisted living at the age of 95.  She was an avid card player; very good at many crafts, always a hard and efficient worker, including bookkeeping at the Standard Oil Station, and long time work in the local DP&L office.  She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Troy, and the family expresses gratitude for all the kindnesses of multiple church groups, who supported Mother with prayers, cards, visits and shut-in gifts.

Thanks also, to the staff at Sterling House/Brookdale/Clare Bridge, for the good care and kindness provided Mother, during the last of her more than a century of living.  Special thanks to the wonderful people of Hospice of Miami County, who provided so much comfort and care.  So many volunteers, doing so many things, we don't even know all, but want them to know how much we appreciate their kindness.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Baird Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauren Allen officiating.  Private Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Church of Christ, 120 South Market Street, Troy, OH 45373 or Hospice of Miami County, PO Box 502, Troy, OH 45373.  Friends may express condolences to the family through www.bairdfuneralhome.com.
