Obituary

Raymond P. Wakefield, 85, passed away and went home to be with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, April 28, 2006 at the Koester Pavilion, Troy, Ohio. He was born on September 19, 1920 in Poland, Ohio to the late David M. and Edna Barrett Wakefield. He married Eileen M. Thatcher, his wife of 39 years, and she survives. His former wife Rosemary Kerr Wakefield preceded him in death in 1965 due to a care accident. Also surviving are their four children, daughters & sons-in-law; Pam & Jim McCormick of Niles, OH; Paula & Charles Perry of Crown City, West Virginia; sons & daughter-in-law; Paul & Karen Wakefield of Las Vegas, Nevada; Pernell Wakefield of Troy, OH; for grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two half brothers. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Troy where he served on the Finance Committee prior to providing custodial service along side his wife for 13 years. He served in the US Army, 43rd Engineers Division during WW II and was a member of the American Legion, Post #43. He retired from Brainard Strapping Company, Warren, Ohio and also worked as a brick layer. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 1, 2006 @ 10:00am at the First Baptist Church, Troy, Ohio with the Rev. Dale Christian and Rev. Doug Magin officiating. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio. There will be Veterans Honor Guard Services at the graveside. Friends may call on the family, Sunday, April 30, 2006 from 2-5PM at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Mission Projects.
