Raymond R. Bretland, age 79, of Troy, OH passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.  Ray was born on November 2, 1938 in Troy to the late Robert R. and Amelia (Niekamp) Bretland.

Ray is survived by his wife of 58 years: Constance R. "Connie" (Smith) Bretland; sons and daughters-in-law: Matthew and Janet Bretland of Troy; Mark and Judy Bretland of Hamersville, OH; Scott Bretland of Troy and Eric Bretland of Troy; brother and sister-in-law: Alfred and Sherri Bretland of Troy and sister: Sharon Stewart of Troy and ten grandchildren.

Ray retired from the Troy Police Department in 1991 after 25 years of service.  He also served the Fourth Ward of Troy for two terms as a council member with the Troy City Council.  He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Knights of St. John.  Ray enjoyed woodworking and fishing in his spare time.

Private family service will take place with interment in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.  Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Hospice of Miami County, PO Box 502, Troy, Ohio 45373.
