June 26, 1916 – April 23, 2003
Ralph Everett Rees, 86, of Piqua, formerly of Troy and Casstown, died as the result of an automobile accident on Wed., April 23, 2003 in Maysville, Kentucky. He was born June 26, 1916 to the late Roscoe Yates and Chelcy Ellen Newman Rees. His wife, Mary Jane Cavender Rees was also killed in the automobile accident. Mr. Rees is survived by 1 daughter; Christy Jane Rees Howard and her husband, James Patrick Howard of Hamilton, Ohio. Aslo surviving are 4 grandchildren, James Patrick Howard II if Silver Springs, MD., Gabrielle Raine Howard, Caitlin Elizabeth Howard, Joseph Priestly Howard, all of Hamilton, Ohio. Also surviving are a brother, William Rees of Piqua, Ohio, and 1 half brother, Delbert Rees of Washington. 2 Brothers preceeded him in death, Charles and Cecil Rees and 1 half brother, Eugene Rees. Mr. Rees was a W.W. II Army Vet, and POW, recipient of Purple Heart, and very active in the UAW and farm Bureau. He was a member of D.A.V., member of the Quarter Century Club. He also served under Franklin D. Roosevelt CCC Program. He retired from Hobarts in 1975 as an assembler after 27 years of service. Military Honors will be held at the cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Susan G. Komen foundation for breast cancer research.
