Obituary

Ralph Edsel Gumbert, 82, of Troy, Ohio, died Friday, April 29, 2011 at 8:18AM at the Upper Valley Medical Center, ER, Troy, Ohio. He was born January 10, 1929 in Greenup, KY. to the late Clyde and Anna Cox Gumbert. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Carmella Livingston Gumbert; Sons Michael and Mark Gumbert both of Troy; Brother William Gumbert of Franklin, Ohio and sister Joyce Hartline of West Carrollton, Ohio; Granddaughters Anna and Sara Gumbert; Several loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents and brothers Robert and Ray Gumbert. Ralph was a Staff Sergeant in the US Army serving from 1951-1953 in the Korean War as a Tank Driver. He was selected for soldierly bearing and combat efficiency to have Christmas dinner with General VanFleet, Commander of the 8th Army and Cardinal Spellman. He retired in 1996 as a Robotics Technician from AO Smith Tipp City after 43 years of service. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 2:00PM at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy with burial to follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Friends may call on the family from 12:00PM-2:00PM at the funeral home.
