Phyllis EileenFrye Smitley, 78, of Troy passed out of this life on Monday, October 20, 2003 at the Southview Hospital in Miamisburg, Ohio after and extended illness. She was born July 27, 1925 in Troy to the late Herbert & Thelma Lowder Frye. She is preceeded in death by her husband, Clyde J. Smitley, he pass in 2000. Beside her parents and her husband, she is also preceeded by one daughter, Kathleen Smitley; one grandson, Eli Duffey, 1 brother, Herbert Frye and 1 sister, Miriam Frye. She is survived by 3 children, Daughter and Son-in-law; Melissa & Michael Duffey of Centerville, Ohio; Sons and Daughter-in-laws; Jeffrey Smitley of Rochester, NY and Chris & Cheri Smitley of Chillicothe, Ohio. Six grandchildren also survive, Chianna, MacKenzie, Megan and Matthew Smitley and Jared and Evan Duffey. Mrs. Smitley was a member of First United Church of Christ in Troy, Ohio. She graduated from Troy High School in 1943. Mrs. Smitley retired in 1988 as a legal secretary for Swinehart & Princi after 25 years of service. She began working with the law firm of Swinehart & Goater. The Rev. Carol Bastin will be officiating the service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Troy.
