Phyllis J. (Slough) Sarber, age 85, of Troy, OH, died on Monday, January 20, 2014 at Koester Pavilion, Troy, OH.  She was born in Troy, OH to the late Lester and Dessie (Kessler) Slough on October 1, 1928.  She was married to Paul E. Sarber for 58½ years.  He survives.

In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Deb and Dean Matthews, Troy, OH; step granddaughter: Courtney Matthews; special niece: Terri Slough; special friends: Meg Ulmes and Gail Jordan; and many nieces and nephews, both adopted and family.  She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers; Gary Slough, Phillip Slough and Robert Slough.

Phyllis was a 1948 graduate of Troy High School.  She was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Troy, OH.  She was a volunteer for 50 years with Trinity Nearly New in downtown Troy.  Phyllis eventually became manager at the store.  She had polio when she was 2 years old; however, she was able to travel extensively with her husband and never let it slow her down.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Troy, OH with The Rev. Joan Smoke officiating.  Friends may call from 4-7 PM on Thursday at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH and from 10-11 AM on Friday at the church.  Private family interment will be held at a later date.
