Phyllis Jean (Jeanie) (Counts) Morrett, age 89, of Troy, Ohio, passed away on September 7, 2023 at StoryPoint of Troy following a brief illness.  She was born on August 9, 1934 in Troy, Ohio to the late Lewis and Edna Mae (Furrow) Counts.

She is survived by her three sons and a daughter: Bruce (Susan) Morrett of Troy, Ohio; Brian (Diana) Morrett of Marietta, Georgia; John (Becky) Morrett of Dayton, Ohio and Julie (Bill) Roeth of Houston, Ohio; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; one sister: Nancy (Marvin) Anderson of Troy, Ohio, as well as many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years: Wayne A. "Mogey" Morrett; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert (Bob) Counts and Joan Counts; George (Buddy) Counts and Nancy Counts; one brother-in-law: Donald Price and brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Roy and Ruth Martin.

Jeanie was a 1952 graduate of Troy High School where she was a cheerleader and the 1952 Homecoming Queen.  She is a member of the First United Church of Christ in Troy, Ohio.  She retired in 1994 as Payroll Clerk for Miami County.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband Mogey, to his many ship reunions and following her grandchildren's and great grandchildren's activities.

Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Lauren Allen officiating.  Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the funeral home.  The family wants to give thanks to the staff of StoryPoint, all of the caretakers at Laurus, and especially Emma and Vicki from Caretenders.
