Phyllis S. Gass, age 93, Troy, OH passed away on December 25, 2022 at the Troy Hospital.  She was born on April 1, 1929 in Troy, OH to the late  Dewey and Audrey (Barnes) Shane.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Denise and Kenneth Zirkle of AZ; son and daughter-in-law: Dennis and Tammy Gass of Troy; sister: Carolyn Weiss of MA; three grandchildren: Matthew Shane (Yutashea) Zirkle, Rusty A. (Rose Campbell) Gass and Jessica L. (Roy) Earl and five great grandchildren: Addison Earl, Brycen and Ryder Stover and Connor and Liam Gass. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years of marriage: Melvin R. Gass and her infant sister: Linda Lou.

Phyllis was a graduate of Troy High School.  She served as a member of the Junior Girls Canteen in Troy during WWII serving soldiers as they passed through on the trains.  She was a member of the First United Church of Christ and the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #256.  She along with her husband was an avid camper and an active member of the Roamin' Trojans Camping Club, a member of the Ohio State Association (OSA) of FCRV and National Association of FCRV (Family Campers and RVers).  Both Phyllis and Melvin received plaques in 1995 for their devotion and service to both OSA and FCRV.

She was a former secretary with Shipman Utrecht Dixon Law Office.  She previously served as a committee member with Partners in Hope.

A Memorial Service will take place on April 29, 2023 at the First United Church of Christ, 120 South Market Street, Troy.  The Order of Eastern Star service will begin at 1:00PM followed by the Memorial Service at 1:30PM.  Private interment took place in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.
