Phyllis E. (Burnside) Meek, age 75, of Troy, OH passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit in Troy. She was born on December 2, 1939 in Alcony, OH to the late Joseph and Bernice (Snyder) Burnside.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter: Cynthia Sue Marr and son: Scott J. Marr and many special friends including Tammy and Clarence Carter and sons, Shane, Alex and Lance Carter and the special boys at the Lincoln Center, Josh, Eric and Shaeden. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by one infant son: Randall Douglas Marr.
Phyllis attended Elizabeth School and was a 1957 graduate of Miami Central School. She was formerly employed with Hobart Corporation and Stouder Memorial Hospital and for many years with the Troy Country Club. Following her retirement, she cared for many individuals in their private homes. Phyllis was a volunteer with the Lincoln Community Center in Troy. Phyllis enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan of baseball, basketball and football.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Baird Funeral Home 555 N. Market St. Troy, Ohio. Interment will take place at later date in the Casstown Cemetery, Casstown, OH. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:00PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home.
