IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Philip Stephen
Wagner
June 27, 1967 – April 25, 2025
Philip Stephen Wagner, 57, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 25, 2025 in Chicago, IL after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 27, 1967 to the late Danny & Barbara Wagner.
Phil is survived by his wife, best friend, and love of his life for 36 years, Dawn Wagner. He was a proud dad to two sons; Stephen (Caitlin) and Nicholas (Madeline) Wagner. Above all else, he loved being Pop-pop to his grandchildren; Elizabeth, Micah, and Maddox. Phil is also survived by his sister Debbi Wagner, sister-in-laws Amy Creath and Julie (Fred) Hall, and in-laws Larry & Debra Svajda. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews who he loved like his own - Elisha Washington, Jalissa Bell, Joseph (Emma) Creath, Alayna (Steven) Ramirez Alfaro, Matthew Creath, Josh (Cheyenne) Nicholson, Justin (Katelyn) Nicholson, Jarryd Nicholson, KymberLee (Josh) Moore. Great nieces and nephews Annora, Malik Jr., Kaiya, Aralynn, Amelia, Kallen, Kamrynn and Eli and a host of many family and friends because Phil never met a stranger.
Phil was employed by Aunt Millie's Bakery for over 20 years. He started out as a route driver and worked his way up through the company to become Vice President of Sales & Franchise Development. He was a loyal employee of Aunt Millie's brand and his family can attest that if he saw another brand of bread at your house or if you tried to bring it into his house he would throw it in the trash!
Phil loved his family above everything and has left them with many happy & fun memories that they will cherish. Those who knew Phil knew that he always had a smile on his face, a funny story to tell, song trivia to stump you on, a knack for making you laugh, or ready to lend a helping hand. There are no words to express how much we will miss him but we find peace in knowing that he is with Jesus and we will see him again.
Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with Pastor Chris Heiss officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM – 2:00PM on Monday at the funeral home.
